Ectopsocus briggsi
is small (1.5–2mm) with dark spots on forewings. The wings are always longer than abdomen. This is one of the commonest species in the United Kingdom. There are several similar species which can only be separated by examining their genitalia with a microscope, therefore this was recorded as
Ectopsocus briggsi agg. (briggsi/petersi/meridionalis).
Mainly seen during summer when feeding on fungal spores and microflora on leaf surfaces.
