Bats can fly and are the only mammals capable of true and sustained flight.

This large Bat with a wingspan of over 30cm was flying just before noon at the back of Hainault Lake. Essex Field Club recorder, Tim Sapsford  commented: "It certainly looks Nyctalus like, it has narrow wings, more likely Noctule than Leisler's although they look the same in flight."
