Canada goslings usually appear slightly later than those of the Greylag. The nestlings are tended by the female and usually leave the nest soon after hatching. They are able to fly in about six weeks. Canada geese feed on grass and are attracted to mown areas because it gives them a clear view of approaching predators. They have a tendency to move away from locations where grass has been allowed to grow longer.
