Crow
Corvus corone
Crows are clever, adaptable and often without fear, although sometimes they can be wary of humans. They live in a wide range of habitats and feed on carrion, insects, worms, seeds, fruit, eggs and scraps. They especially like unsalted red peanuts. Crows chase off birds that they consider a threat to themselves and their young. This defensive behaviour happens a lot especially during the breeding season and can sometimes become a communal event with a number of birds dive bombing the enemy in a process known as 'mobbing'. The predators are not harmed but usually decide to move on to avoid the confrontation.
