Dance Fly

Tachypeza nubila
Dance Flies (about 3mm) are small and dark brown in appearance. They are found on tree trunks in summer and autumn. The yellowish-brown front legs have swollen thighs. When threatened they normally run away very fast, only flying away when absolutely necessary. There are several similar species making identification difficult.
