Dunlin

Dunlin

Calidris alpina

The Dunlin is the most common small wader found along the coast. On rare occasions it can be seen inland at Hainault Lake and Fairlop Waters. It has a slightly down-curved bill and a distinctive black belly patch in the breeding season. They feed on insects, snails and worms.
