Fallow Deer were introduced to Britain by the Normans after 1066. Fallow are usually light, gingery-brown with white spots on the back. Darker specimens were once kept in an enclosure in Epping Forest which were ancestors of the ones we see today in Hainault Forest. With humans encroaching on land once used by wildlife it should come as no surprise when nature tries to claim it back. Mike Rumble took his pictures on a Harold Hill housing estate.
