Reptiles are cold-blooded vertebrates that need to bask in warm, sunny locations to heat up their bodies. Reptiles are covered in hard, keratinous protective scales. Reptiles cannot breathe through their skin. Some reptiles lay eggs and others give birth to live young after incubating them internally.
