White Water-lily
Nymphaea alba grows in still or slow-moving waters. Plants can be seen at Sheepwater in Hainault Forest.
The large flowers and leaves float on the surface, while the rest of the plant is submerged and rooted in the mud at the bottom. The roundish leaves are up to 30cm across. Flowers bloom in summer, opening up in sunshine.
