Wren

Wren

Troglodytes troglodytes

One of Britain's tiniest birds (but not as small as the goldcrest). Wrens feed on insects and arachnids. Wrens huddle together during winter to stay warm and there may be dozens in a single nest. Males make several nests during spring hoping to influence a female to use one to start a family. A group of Wrens is referred to as a 'herd' or 'chime'.
