Flat-footed Fly
Callomyia amoena
Platypezidae is a small family of flies, with females often displaying attractive patterns. The larvae usually feed on fungus. This specimen has been identified as Callomyia amoena; however, there are two very similar species, leading to uncertainty about the precise identification, which would probably have required DNA testing to confirm. This specimen had a body length of approximately 3 to 4 mm.
