Whitethroat

Curruca communis

A summer migrant originating from Africa. Both males and females are mainly brown on the upper side and buff on the underside, featuring chestnut fringes on the secondary feathers. The male has a grey head. The white throat of a female is duller. Their diet consists of insects, berries, and fruits. The picture shows a female or juvenile, which explains why it lacks the distinct blue-grey head cap seen on adult males.
