Jay
Garrulus glandarius
Jays need a consistent water source for drinking and bathing. They do not swim well and have difficulty drinking from deep, steep-sided bodies of water. Instead, they prefer ponds with sloped, shallow edges, or partially submerged branches that allow them to stand safely while accessing the water. They also tend to choose ponds located near dense trees, shrubs, or overhanging branches, enabling them to quickly escape if they feel threatened.
