Nettle Gall
Dasineura urticae
Larvae of the midge Dasineura urticae induce the formation of galls on Common Nettle. Within these pouch-like swellings, the larvae, which can be white, pink, orange, or red, feed on the inner tissues of the leaf. Galls may be found on the leaf, petiole, midrib, or flower stalk.
