Pterostichus madidu
Has a shiny, well-rounded pronotum and legs that are either black or wine-red. Found under logs in spring and summer. Predatory, preys on ground-living caterpillars, slugs and other invertebrates. Adults mate in autumn and the larvae overwinter. 15-20mm long.
