Skullcap

Scutellaria galericulata

Skullcap features blue, tube-shaped flowers characterised by two distinct lips that are arranged in pairs in the leaf axils, where the leaves meet the stem. The plant has square stems and oval leaves with toothed edges, which are positioned in opposite pairs. The flowering period extends from June to September, when it can occasionally be found growing at the edge of one of the ponds in Hainault Lodge.
