Poplar-buttercup Aphid Gall
Thecabius affinis
These galls on Poplar trees are caused by the aphid Thecabius affinis. The aphids, which also inhabit buttercups, cause the leaves to curl and subsequently turn reddish. The aphids are covered in a shiny waxy substance.
