Ilford Ratepayers Association

The Ilford Ratepayers' Association presented "Butterflies" which took part in the Loxford Ward parade. On the left is a Pearly King. Henry Croft became the first Pearly King in the late 1870s. He designed a sequin suit to attract attention while promoting his fundraising efforts, thus initiating a tradition.
