Fallow Deer
Dama dama
Fallow Deer were introduced to Britain by the Normans following 1066. They typically have a light, gingery-brown colouration with white spots on their backs. Darker individuals were previously kept in an enclosure in Epping Forest and are considered ancestors of the Fallow Deer found today in Hainault Forest.
