Moorhen
Gallinula chloropus
Moorhens are closely related to Coots, but are much shyer. They tend to feed around the edge of lakes and ponds and are rather solitary birds. A group of Moorhens is called a 'plump'.

Young Moorhens can forage for themselves at 3 weeks and most can fly by 7 weeks. However, they often remain with their parents for several months afterwards.
