Caloptilia alchimiella/robustella

The species Caloptilia alchimiella and Caloptilia robustella are difficult to identify in the field and can only be accurately distinguished through genital dissection. In cases of uncertainty regarding identification, the two species are documented as a combined group. Both species have larvae that feed on oak.
