It is not surprisingly that Fuligo septica is known by the common name 'Scrambled Egg'. It grows on dead wood and is usually found on stumps and fallen trees. The Scrambled Egg hardens, then darkens and disintegrates to release its spores.

Badhamia panicea develops sessile (seldom stalked) fruiting bodies that resemble very tiny (0.4mm-2mm) grey pebbles. The 'pebbles' break open to release spores that appear brownish in transmitted light. This slime mould is found on trunks and branches of fallen beech trees. Thank you to Professor Bruce Ing for the identification.
